This project, sponsored by Heritage Canada and in coordination with CHIJ-Canadian Heritage
Interactive Journey has been a great opportunity for all of us at the Inverness Education Centre
and, indeed, in our entire community.
The learning and sharing that went on is priceless. We have done a whole bunch in a very short time and credit should go where it is deserved.
Our students who took part in this independent study did plenty of footwork. In the end, hopefully
, they will have had a real "experience" that lets them see their community with clearer vision.
The citizens of Inverness who supported our efforts, gave photos and stories and their time will be
able to link - up to our site and see a little bit of themselves on the net. We hope that they were refreshed by their contacts with our young journalists in the past month.
Special thanks should go to citizens, Janice Ferguson, Ned Mac Donald, Elizabeth De Vouge, Terry Mac Donald, Dave MacGregor, Frank Macdonald and Rankin Mac Donald from The Inverness Oran, David
Gillis Photography, Bill Dunphy, James St. Clair, Beth Ryan, Virginia McCoy, Ian Mac Neil from Information Morning CBC Sydney and the numerous others who took time to encourage the students.
Without question this project would not succeed without the titanic efforts of Bonny H.J. Mac Isaac and Darlene Delaney who directed, led, hugged, and begged to get everything done in time and Walter Deagle and Phillip Harris who offered their time and expertise to add a professional touch.
I want to congratulate Darlene and Bonny and our eight archivists on a great effort and magnificent results.
Tom Ryan,
Principal
